Oilers Eliminate Canucks, Advance to the Second Round

Oilers Clinch Series Win with 3-2 Victory in Vancouver

Edmonton Advances to Face Calgary Flames in Next Round

The Edmonton Oilers clinched a berth in the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday night, defeating the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in Game 7 at Rogers Arena.

The Oilers controlled the pace of the game for the majority of the night, taking a 3-0 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the third period. However, the Canucks mounted a late rally, scoring two goals in quick succession to make it a one-goal game.

Despite the late push from the Canucks, the Oilers held on for the victory, thanks in large part to a strong performance from goaltender Mike Smith. Smith made several key saves in the final minutes of the game to preserve the win and send the Oilers to the second round.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins led the way for the Oilers with a goal and an assist, while Connor McDavid added two assists. Elias Pettersson scored both goals for the Canucks.

The Oilers will now face the Calgary Flames in the second round of the playoffs. The series is scheduled to begin on Wednesday night in Calgary.
